Das Metall-Schutzgasschweißen (MSG) ist heute eines der meist verbreiteten Schweißverfahren in nahezu allen Bereichen der industriellen Fertigung. Dies ist eine positive Entwicklung, allerdings birgt das Verfahren eine Vielzahl von Risiken für den Schweißer.

Schweißer schützen sich vor den negativen Auswirkungen des Schweißens, indem sie Schutzkleidung tragen, um Körper und Augen vor Verbrennungen, Stromschlag, hellem Licht und ultravioletter Strahlung zu schützen. Der Schutz vor Schweißrauch wird dabei leider oft außer Acht gelassen.
